I've been a seamstress since I was pretty young, but I had to learn it on my own — my mom didn't have the patience or desire to teach me. I really wanted to teach my daughter to sew, but she wasn't too interested. Now that she is forty & has 12 year old twin daughters, she wants me to teach them all how to sew. Hopefully, I still have the patience to do that.

I made my first garment (by hand though) at age 6. The top my brother wore home from the hospital 45 years ago! That's a skill that she will use and doesn't change much. I ended up majoring in Home Economics in college!
