Several years ago, I spotted a few old windows in my cousin’s barn. He was happy to get rid of them and I was happy to take them off his hands! A few of the pieces of glass were broken out, so I decided to break the rest out and use the windows in the garden.
They have become my favorite Sweet Pea trellises.
I usually plant my Sweet Peas from seeds, but I’ve noticed that they’ve been getting trampled over the past few years, and not growing too well. (Dogs and kids will do that to your garden.) This year, I decided to buy some starts at the nursery.
I planted several plants under each window frame and I also planted a few on a trellis in another part of the yard.

It looks like the sweet peas are growing healthy, Becca. They'll be crawling on the windows soon. 🙂 Talk about being eco-friendly! Another way of recycling old windows is using them as picture frames. I have one in my kitchen with a cute face of a piglet in each squared hole.

That is a brilliant idea! I like how you recycled your old window. It will really help a lot for your sweet peas to grow strong and healthy. Those are beautiful flowering plants. I would love to see the pictures of those plants in full bloom!

I’m a frustrated gardener. You wouldn’t believe how many times I tried to grow plants, but I really can’t. How about you? Do you have a green thumb? That’s a great idea you got there! Transforming old windows into plant dividers seems like a sustainable approach to gardening. I will reserve this idea for when I’m finally able to grow plants. 🙂

It was a good idea to recycle your windows instead of just putting it to waste. Anyway, do you have a green thumb? I hope your green peas will grow healthy! Keep planting! Good luck!
