Home Is Where My Story Begins

Next Up and A Linky Party

Sitting in the lunch room today, one of my fellow kindergarten teachers told me how much she enjoyed reading my blog. She complimented the way my cabinets turned out and told me that I inspired her to alphabetize her spices. I can’t tell you how a nice compliment like that brightened my day. She asked me what project I would be up to next. I think I’m ready to slow down with the home improvement projects and spend a little more time sewing.

I absolutely love quilting. I don’t know that I actually love the sewing part of quilting, but I LOVE the fabrics. I could spend hours browsing in the fabric store. I’m not the best at putting fabrics together, but the designers are fabulous about producing a whole line of fabrics that are just made for each other.

I bought the fabrics for this quilt as a packaged set.

This was a quilt I made for my daughter when she was born. She was NOT going to be a little pink princess. She was going to be my red, green, and yellow girl. Boy, was I wrong about that.

This was the quilt I made for my son, when he was born. We painted his room brown and used dark red accents. We loved it, but  I can’t tell you how annoyed the grandmas were that we painted a baby’s room brown.

This pinwheel quilt was one of the first quilts I made, about fifteen years ago.  Suddenly, I feel old.

So, to answer the question about which project is next up… I’m looking forward to spending a little quality time with my sewing machine and some beautiful fabric.

We’re ready for Home and Family Friday! I missed seeing the wonderful creations in Bloggland, with the Holidays falling on Fridays for the past two weeks. Well, it’s the new year and I’m sure many of you are cleaning, organizing, and starting some fun new projects. I can’t wait to see them! I’d love it if you’d grab my button and become a follower.
