Moda Bakeshop Jelly Roll Quilt

November 5, 2012   By Becca 3 Comments

My latest quilt is finished!  I finished the quilt top about a year ago and it’s just been waiting for quilting.  Over the summer, I finally got around to taking it to my quilt lady. (I love to sew, but hate to do the quilting.  Stuffing the quilt through the sewing machine is my least favorite thing ever. I’d love to get a big quilting machine, but don’t have the room.) I told Tammy, my quilt lady, I was in no hurry to have it finished, since it had been sitting in my sewing room for months anyway.

I choose a swirly quilting pattern and I love the combination of straight lines with swirly quilting.

This quilt was my first jellyroll project.  I fell in love with the colors of this jellyroll, the minute I saw it.  I had no idea what I would make, but I just loved this fabric.

When I ran across this book, I knew my problems were solved.  I bought the book and picked out a pattern.  The pattern I chose was not something I would normally pick.  It was very random, and I tend to like a more predictable pattern.

I finished the quilt blocks and still wasn’t sure how I felt about the quilt.  I loved the fabric, but the pattern was still not working for me.

After getting it back from my quilt lady, I’m finally loving it.  It’s cozy, just the right colors, and looks great in my family room.

The true test was this afternoon.  Yep, it was a good nap quilt.

I have three more Moda jelly rolls waiting for me.  Hopefully they won’t take me a year to complete this time.

Happy sewing, friends.
