Home Is Where My Story Begins

From Warm and Cozy to Light and Bright

I have a problem saying, “There. I’m done.”

My house is a constant work in progress.  I finish one room, and move onto the next.  The family room was one of the first rooms to get a mini make-over after we moved in, 7 years ago.  I loved the yellow and burgundy!  The colors made the room look so warm and cozy.

I’ve found that all of the rooms I have been pinning on Pinterest and light and bright.  Warm and cozy is what I do.  Light and bright is sooooo not me.  So, I kind of surprised myself when I bought Quails Egg White paint at Lowes the other day. Check out the new light and bright family room….

Remember how yellow everything looked last week?

It is very much a Fall space.  I do love it.

And I just finished my fall pillows.

But, oh, how I love the new light and bright look.  I love the contrast between the brown and white Quails Egg.  I like the way the curtains blend into the space, but still provide some softness.

I’m in love with the new French stripe pillows.

The ottoman slip covers are made from chocolate corduroy fabric that I found in the clearance pile at Jo-Ann.

 Love.

I want to add a little length to the curtain panels, so I’m planning to add an 8 inch ruffle to the bottom out of the same color.  The door frame needs to be stripped and restained a darker color. Oh, and I have a couple of quilts in the works to add some more color to the chairs. There’s always something to do!

Light and bright.  What do you think?
